Do you need a new doctor?

You expect your doctor to provide comprehensive care that meets a certain standard of quality. And while that is the case for many patients, not all doctors are equal.

As a result, you must look for certain signs that a doctor is not good for you. Identifying the following signs is the first step to securing quality health care and taking control of your overall wellness.

No coordination with specialists

Certain medical issues require the help of specialists, which means your primary care physician must coordinate with them as needed. For instance, your doctor may need to provide test results to a new specialist to help them determine the best possible treatment. If your doctor fails to coordinate effectively or does not provide essential information, your care will be sorely lacking.

Office visits feel rushed

Many physicians have incredibly busy schedules, but they must still make time for their patients. If you feel like your doctor is going through the exam at break-neck speed, you will naturally not have time to ask questions or discuss symptoms. Even when faced with time restraints, a good doctor will take the time to listen to you.

Your doctor has a harsh manner

A doctor should never behave rudely or dismissively to patients. While bedside manners vary greatly, you deserve basic respect and kindness from people providing health care services. Not only is it the right thing to do, but it also makes you feel more comfortable opening up about your health.

If you have misgivings about your current doctor, research them online to see what other patients have to say. If these reviews validate your concerns or you are just not satisfied with the level of care, it is time to look for another doctor to assist you.
